5:30pm: Reid continues to have an awesome day. Most everything is the same with the exception that they have lowered his O2 down to 61% and his NO to 2.2 ppm. Even with all of the changes, he is still maintaining a 94 saturation. He looks really good as he has lost some of those extra fluids that were bloating his hands, feet and face yesterday. The question now... is surgery going to happen tomorrow??? A follow-up ECHO will be done in the morning and the doctors will assess. On a different note, Shannon, my sister, came to visit today and brought us cookies, pumpkin bread and dinner for tonight!! Thank you Shannon.
10:00am: Reid had a really good night last night. As of 6am this morning, they had weaned him down to 30 breaths per minute (which is the lowest he can be at while paralyzed), have his Nitric Oxide at 5 ppm and his O2 at 80%. Last night when we called at midnight, he was at 96% O2, so he made huge progress is a short 6 hours. He is also on Lasix to help him with his urine output --- he was getting rather puffy from laying still while on the Nurcuron. The nurses said he looked much more normal last night after he had rid himself of some of the extra fluids.
Today promises to be a full day of visiting Reid, cleaning house, finishing Christmas shopping, working and picking up Erica (Kristen's sister) from the airport tonight. Somehow, I need to find time catch up on some of the things that are starting to be neglected around the house (i.e. laundry and bills). There is rarely a moment when we can sit down and relax these days. Some of you will probably say that this all comes along with having kids... but I will gladly welcome the day that Reid comes home and causes me not to have time. These long commutes downtown everyday usually kill everything that we try to accomplish for the day. The other night, it took us nearly an hour and a half to come home from visiting Reid (and its only about 12 miles away). Anyway, I will finish my gripe section and actually do something about it. Time to start the laundry. :) By the way, here are a few pictures of him from yesterday:
