1:00pm: Reid had an awesome night and continues to have an even better day. Currently, he is on 33% O2 (12% over normal room air and the lowest he has been able to sustain for an extended period of time) and are working on bringing down his breaths per minute on the vent. They have also lowered his Nitric Oxide down to 1 ppm and hope to get him off that today. His nurcuron (paralytic) has been stopped and he is starting to move again... right now he has twitching hands and feet and occasionally moves his head back and forth. They are anxious to see how well he is going to treat not being on the paralytic, but he is still heavily medicated with morphine. Everyone seems to think that he is over the hump in terms of surgery recovery and should hopefully be moving nowhere by forward from now. His hernias were not present today but know they will be back as soon as he starts to bear down and cry when he wakes up. Right now, with where Reid is at, it is the best Christmas present we could have asked for this year. A few more days, and hopefully we will have his next surgery over with as well.
Reid has a lot of new visitors today: Grandma and Grandpa Hart (Kristen's mom and step father), Erica and David (Kristen's sister and brother-in-law) are here. He has his "A" game on and trying to impress the new family members he has not yet met. :)
