10:30pm: We are hoping that three time's a charm as they decided to lower Reid's flow to 4 liter this morning during rounds. So far, he has held steady and seems to be tolerating it. He has also handled his feeds well (100cc compressed to 30 minutes) and has had a pretty good day. Kristen and I were able to take him outside around 6 tonight for a walk in the garden. He seemed to enjoy it and stayed awake for a good 15-20 minutes until he passed out on us - he really likes the movement of the stroller.

Doctors have changed their mind about the weaning of the flow. Last week, they had talked about pushing him to 100% oxygen and seeing how well he would do. Now, they want him to get to 2 liter flow before they do that... so we will go the conventional route. Not sure if it really makes a difference for us, but we were anxious to see how he would handle it --- we will just need to wait a little while longer. The only other change today was the increase in his diuretic, as it was adjusted for his weight gain.

11:15am: Reid crashed last night after his long day yesterday and got some good, uninterrupted sleep. His CO2 was 62 and his excess base had come down to +8 (still on the high side, but better than yesterday). Over the night, they were able to successfully get him down to the 30 minute compressed feeds without any issues. I imagine they will let him get used to this and hopefully starting next week they will start the flow weaning process.

It is another beautiful day here in Atlanta and Kristen is hoping to get Reid outside when she gets to the hospital around 2.
