12:00pm: Reid is having a good day today. They attempted the wean to 10 liter flow again ---- this time with success! He is handling it well. The nurse said his lungs sounded much better today than they did yesterday, so with the change in diuretic, it must of helped.
Reid also got a nice bath this morning. He didn't get one last night, so the nurse and the respiratory therapist tag-teamed it and actually gave him a tub bath. He usually just gets a wipe down, so this must have felt good to him. He is now sound asleep.
Kristen asked if the doctor was concerned with his weight loss yesterday... and apparently my math is incorrect as he has already reached 90 grams of his 100 gram goal. They all expected him to lose some weight last night, so this didn't come as a surprise and they are OK with it.
One more wean on the pressure/flow (to 9 liters) and 10 more grams gain before Friday and we will have met our goal for the week...
8:00am: Reid had a very quiet night and slept for the majority of it. His CO2 was 58. He did manage to lose 50 grams, but probably attributed to the fact that he was given a larger dose of diuretic and also had not been fed any milk in 24 hours. He still has a net gain of 40 grams for the week and needs to have reached 100 by Friday for him to meet his goal.
Great news! Keep up the good work, Reid! XOXO Aunt Shannon
